Description: The High-water Mark (HWM) indicates the level reached by the sea at high tide, and was drawn as a base reference for the delineation of coastal management lines in the Eden District, Western Cape Province, South Africa. It is primarily based on a line indicating a 1:10yr wave run-up generated with a wave run-up simulation model, but corrections were applied manually after visual inspection using approximate indicators (vegetation line at the top of the beach, wet sands, exposed rock etc. as per aerial photography of 2013). The wave run-up model used MIKE21-FMSW software to calculate onshore wave heights and the EurOtop package to model wave run-up.
